"You have to stand up for some things in

this world." Marjory Stoneman Douglas

I am a proud American living in Cherokee County, Texas.  I am thankful for our founding fathers who so wisely penned what I consider the greatest secular document of all time.  That document being our United States Constitution.  Our Constitution’s First Amendment which contains what is known as the Establishment Clause is especially important to me.  This clause prohibits the government from making any law “respecting an establishment of religion.” This clause not only forbids the government from establishing an official religion, but also prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another. This clause prohibits the government from unduly preferring religion over non-religion, or non-religion over religion.

When it comes to my political affiliation, I identify as a Democrat.  I believe that government is an important solution to our societal problems.  I believe that government can help rectify flaws in the Free Market.  I know that no system is perfect, but we must attempt to remedy the cracks that allow people to fall through them.  I am convinced that we need not debate over whether government is needed. Instead, we must debate around the appropriated size of government.

Spiritually speaking, I am a Christian who believes the Holy Bible is the Word of God.  I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  As a result of my baptism, I am a member of his body, the church of Christ.

Contrary to what most East Texas Republican Evangelicals believe, I believe it is possible to be a Democrat and also be a Christian.
